Wednesday Evenings
7:00pm “Contemplative Worship” ~ FUMC Sanctuary
Welcoming, solemn, joyful, contemplative, communal, expansive, open, quiet, inward… These are words that may begin to get at the experience being sought here. This is a space to slow down enough in our busy lives for God to catch up with us. Using a theological and liturgical approach that is progressive, open, seeking wholeness, and acceptance for all, this service seeks to connect the sacred with the ordinary… the mysterious with the common elements of our lives. The values lived out in this service are silence, simplicity, mystery, ritual, hospitality and progressive spirituality. Communion is celebrated at least bi-monthly and all are welcome at the table. A mixture of Taizé music, chants, and simple hymns are used, occasionally with augmented instrumentation. Influences on our worship include Celtic Spirituality (the Northumbria Community), the Taizé community, St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church, and Quaker spirituality. Approximate time: 45-60 minutes. Directions to FUMC
