Children's Ministries

Children and Family Ministry

The vision for children’s ministry at First United Methodist Church is to support families in the nurturing of the faith formation of their children.

A commitment to attend church and be present for the programming provided which will equip families to grow together, learn together and share their faith is expected.  Sunday morning will be a time when both children and parents come to church to be renewed, spiritually uplifted, and connected to God, others, and the world.

We will be exploring the stories, parables, and teachings of the Bible and applying what is learned to our lives.
While a child might be at church 50 hours per year, a parent has about 3,000 hours per year “to impact the heart of their child” and that influence will be lifelong.“As good as we might think we are as a church and as electrifying and relevant as our ministries might be, we still don’t have the potential to influence children the way parents do”

We wish to partner with parents and communicate what is being learned at Sunday school, so it can be reinforced at home. We want to intentionally plan for supportive workshops for parent and child that will teach tools for building structures, and disciplines to strengthen faith within the family.  It is our hope to provide workshops and classes for parents that will give tools and support to help Moms and Dads be the spiritual leaders for their children.

Make time to pray together, to have fun together, and serve others together.   Life is full of many distractions and busyness can push out the grace, beauty, and love that are so abundant in our lives. May we be present to share God’s wonderful world with our children and give thanks.
