The Invitation

For where two or three are gathered in my name,
I am there among them.
Matthew 18:10

The Invitation offers a ministry specifically designed for seventh and eighth grade students who are interested in finding out more about their faith and their church, meeting friends, and beginning their Confirmation journey.  Ideally, a student will participate in both years of this program before entering the high school program (The Table), but seventh and eighth graders are welcome to join The Invitation at any time in the program year.

Our evenings are typically divided into two parts.  First, we take time to “check in” each week.  This is an opportunity to reflect on how we are doing, as well as a chance to offer our attention and care to others as we listen to them.  This is a sacred time set aside for reflection and fellowship, a time to listen for- and learn to recognize- God’s “still, small voice” in our lives.

The second part of our evening is a time for exploring faith topics together, and youth will be invited to propose topics that are of special interest to them.  We all have questions when it comes to faith, and The Invitation is a welcoming, open, and safe place to decide for ourselves what we believe and what is meaningful.

Throughout our time together, we will also become familiar with our sacred texts, exploring the stories that shape our tradition.  While there is no way we can cover the Bible in the course of a year, we will certainly turn to the books of the Bible for guidance and inspiration.

If you are in seventh or eighth grade, The Invitation is addressed to you!
We meet from 6:00- 7:00 pm on Wednesday evenings in the Youth Room.
(Pizza is available from 7:00-7:30 in Wesley Hall)

Come and respond to God’s Invitation to you
