Children's Christmas Pageant

Carriers of the Light 2008

2009 The Living Crèche Children’s Christmas Pageant is a joyous musical celebration that weaves scripture,
ancient legend, and carols from European traditions into a richly colored Christmas tapestry.
Threading through this fabric are Christmas legends that trace modern customs to their Christian origins.
Crèche (pronounced “krehsh”) is an old French word meaning crib. The building of crèches, or representations of the nativity scene, is an ancient tradition. Some sources attribute the first crèche to St. Francis of Assisi in 1223 A.D. From miniature to life size or larger, crèches typically include the manger, Mary, Joseph, the infant Jesus, the shepherds and wise men, angels and even animals.
